Teach Worlds Schools Style debate in three ready-to-go sessions, from “who speaks when?” to a full mock round. Editable PowerPoints, coaching guides and print-ready student materials, all in the According to Who? format.
Teach Worlds Schools debate without the prep.
Worlds Schools Style (WSS) is a team-based format with a lot of strategy: three speakers, a different job for each, reply speeches and Points of Information. This mini unit breaks it into three 60-minute sessions that build on each other, ending in a full mock round.
What your students will learn
- Session 1: Meet WSS. Two teams of three, the eight speeches in order, what each speaker does, and how to open a case with Define, Line, Split.
- Session 2: Main Speeches & POIs. Building an argument with a reason, an example and an impact. The 2nd speaker’s three jobs (Refute, Rebuild, Build), and how to offer and answer Points of Information.
- Session 3: Replies & a Mock Round. What a 3rd speaker does, how to build a reply speech (Frame, Compare, Win), and how a WSS debate is judged on Style, Content and Strategy. Then students put it all together in a mock round.
What’s included (for each of the 3 sessions)
- A 10-slide PowerPoint with speaker notes
- A Coaching Guide with the session plan, timings, a 30-minute lunchtime version, supports and extensions, and a check-for-understanding key
- Student Materials ready to print, including a cheat sheet, speech order cards, planners, a motion bank, POI guide and tracker, flow sheet, judge’s ballot, and Star & Wish feedback cards
- A START HERE guide and licence terms
